Hawick Horse Racing Association

We run 4 Race Meetings every year at Hawick Moor from April to September, and work closely with Langholm, Selkirk, Lockerbie, Irvine and Hawick Common Riding to ensure a great day out for the racing spectator, horses and trainers.

Our flapping meetings are not regulated by The British Horse Racing Authority but are managed along similar lines. Horses involved are all thoroughbreds, registered with the Thoroughbred Register at Wetherbys, with passport as proof of identity..

Owners or syndicates do not need a Registered Trainer. This keeps the costs down and offers a more ‘hands on’ horse racing experience..

Please note: Any horse that runs at a “flapping circuit” is automatically banned from any racing events organised by the Jockey Club.
